Pregnancy can make shopping feel like a maths problem with a constantly changing denominator.
What fits now? What will fit in three months? Is it worth buying? Will I wear it after?
The answer isn't a bigger wardrobe. It's a smarter one.
A useful pregnancy capsule wardrobe starts with pieces that can work across multiple situations and, ideally, beyond pregnancy.
- 2–3 everyday tops: Choose comfortable, breathable styles that work with jeans, trousers, skirts or whatever already lives in your wardrobe.
- 1–2 dresses: A good dress can solve an alarming number of problems. Look for shapes that accommodate your changing body without looking like they're trying to.
- 1 comfortable pair of bottoms: The kind you can sit in for eight hours without becoming aware of your waistband every six minutes. 1 pair of jeans or a casual bottom If jeans are your thing, keep them. Pregnancy doesn't revoke your denim privileges.
- 1 going out outfit: Something you can wear to dinner, a celebration or a wedding — and don't buy it six months before the event if your body is likely to change significantly before then.
The key is good base layers This is the unglamorous part that makes everything else better. One layer you can throw over everything An open shirt, lightweight jacket or cardigan can change the proportions of an outfit without requiring an entirely new look.
And then there are the things you don't need: fifteen maternity tops, a wardrobe full of elastic and anything you bought solely because a website told you every pregnant woman "needs" it.
Buy fewer things. Make them work harder. Invest in high quality pieces, explore the one's we have for you :)
